Do You Snore?

The big question is, do you snore or does your partner snore or does someone you know snore?

This is a big issue - in marriages and for your health - that shouldn’t be ignored. Snoring is something your dentist should be aware of because snoring is a mild form of sleep apnea. Anywhere you are getting an airway obstruction is a sleep apnea problem and can be caused by many different things. Often there is an airway restriction because your tongue falls back but it can also be a constriction of the pharynx.

We tend to envision a particular type of person when we think of sleep apnea issues but we are seeing in science and in the community that it affects a wide variety of people - male and female of different shapes, sizes and ages.

Why snoring should not be overlooked:

Sleep apnea is a real problem which can lead to daytime fatigue, early onset dementia, and contribute to heart disease. It can also impact children as well, sometimes misdiagnosed as ADHD, focusing issues in school or behavioral issues.

If you’re curious about this, Dr. Roa is a great person to reach out to for more information. We have sleep appliances that can be made for you if you can’t tolerate a cpap machine. We can work with your medical insurance to help you on this. Discuss this with Dr. Roa on your next appointment or schedule one today, we would be happy to talk further with you.
